Visitor Policy

Guidelines for Attendants/Visitors

ACE Heart and Vascular Institute supports the concept of patient and family-centred quality care. We realize that family members are a valuable part of the healthcare team and we encourage the presence and participation of family members. For the comfort and safety of all involved, we ask that you follow these guidelines:

(1) To allow our patients a rest period and facilitate efficient working of our staff, we encourage less visits by the visitors during their patients stay in the Private Rooms/ Ward in the hospital. The hospital has defined visiting hours for ICU, in which one attendant is permitted at the patient’s bedside during following hours:

  • 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

(2) Each adult patient (over the age of 18) may have one attendant that stays with them overnight in their room. We provide a cot for the attendant to sleep in. Except in special circumstances, more than one attendant will not be permitted to stay at night. Information about local hotels and guest houses is available at the reception.

(3) All meals are provided to the patient in accordance with the doctor’s instruction and the dietician’s advice. For medical and hygiene reasons, the hospital does not allow food from outside to be brought in for patients or attendants. Attendants are requested not to eat their meals in the rooms. We welcome you to use the Cafeteria on the ground floor for food.

(4) All visitors and patient attendants must be free of transmissible illnesses (cough, cold, skin infections, conjunctivitis etc.) Kindly do not allow more than two visitors at a time in the room. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting patient’s room and after patient contact.

(5) All visitors and attendants must be respectful of the patient, other patients, family, visitors, and staff members. Foul language, violent or threatening behaviour, and any discriminatory, disrespectful, or offensive conversation or comments will NOT be tolerated. If you cannot comply with this, you will be asked to leave. In Private Room or Ward, an attendant must be able to perform the following:

  • Provide comfort and support to the patient.
  • Encourage the patient to be independent as much as possible to facilitate his/her recovery.
  • Must maintain good personal hygiene, be able to care for themselves, and arrange their own meals.
  • Assist the patient with setting up their meals, brushing teeth, going to the bathroom, or other activities as appropriate. If you want to do more, please check with the nursing staff first.
  • If you give the patient anything to drink or help them go to the bathroom, please keep a record of what you give them to drink or how much urine they had so we can keep an accurate intake and output measurement.
  • Keep a clear path available for the staff to reach the monitor and emergency equipment at the head of the bed, IV pumps and the patient at all times.
  • Help to create a restful, relaxing surrounding for the patient. Kindly turn off the TV and turn down the lights at night.
  • Please inform the nursing staff if you are leaving the patient alone for a while.
  • Kindly take care of your cash and valuables. The Hospital does not accept responsibility for loss or theft of money, jewellery, mobile phones and other items.

(6) Attendants of the patient who has been shifted to ICU / OT / Recovery are requested to vacate the room and may stay in the waiting lounge otherwise charges will be applicable subject to the availability of the room.

(7) Cost of surgery / procedure varies as per the opted room according to Hospital tariff. Kindly refer to tariff details and ensure to take estimate from billing department at the time of admission. Kindly be updated for the billing status and deposit money for the services already rendered/availed in Billing Department on daily basis.

(8) The entire discharge process takes approximately 3 hours after the final Doctor Visit and intimation from Doctor. This is not applicable in case of TPA cases wherein discharge time depends upon final approval from the insurance company.

(9) Issuance of any Document / Certificate related to the Medical Record of the patient or any alteration in the same shall be done only on the request of the Attendant. The whole process shall take 48 hrs after submission of a written request along with the necessary documents to the Medical Superintendent.

(10) Patients and visitors who are dissatisfied with care or with the hospital’s facilities or services or have any suggestion for improvement are encouraged to meet the Medical Superintendent.

Please feel free to ask us if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or if there is anything we can do to make your stay easier. We are here to make this difficult time for you and your family as stress-free as possible.
